Transcription: The turbofan, which is the most common type of jet engine, operates by sucking in air using a large fan mounted at its opening. This air is forced into the compressor, a series of rotating blades which pressurize the air and force it into the gradual pan along the length of the engine combustion chamber. Here, the air is mixed with vaporized fuel and burned. The resulting hot gases which shoot out of the combustion chamber are used in two ways. Some spin the turbine which powers the compressor.
